Lake, Smit and Partners Inc. CSI Initiative – Supporting Umduduzi: Hospice Care for Children

As part of our ongoing Corporate Social Investment (CSI) initiative, Lake, Smit and Partners Inc. had the privilege of supporting Umduduzi – Hospice Care for Children, a non-profit organisation providing hospital-based paediatric palliative care at Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital and across 10 state hospitals in KwaZulu-Natal.

Umduduzi’s compassionate and holistic programme supports children with life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses—from birth to 18 years old—through pain management, emotional and spiritual care, and end-of-life support. Their work extends beyond hospital walls, reaching families in their homes across eThekwini.

For Mandela Day, we donated two strollers and a wheelchair to help children experiencing significant mobility challenges. We were honoured to contribute to their incredible efforts in bringing dignity, comfort, and hope to young lives.

“This donation will allow us to help children suffering with significant mobility issues and make their lives easier. Your kindness and support mean the world to us and, more importantly, to the children and families we serve.” – Julia Ambler, Clinical Director, Umduduzi

If you would like to support Umduduzi, consider visiting their Hope Chest Thrift Shop at Sandy Centre in Pinetown, where donations of clothing, toys, books, kitchenware, and more are always welcome.
