PAE CHANGED MY LIFE
“Before PAE (Prostate Artery Embolization), everything revolved around needing to pee nearly every hour and when l needed to go, it was imperative to get to a toilet in as short a time as possible, or it would feel like l was about to burst. Getting up 3 or 4 times a night became normal. There were times when it was really hard to start and then it would just dribble out and take ages to pee. I was taking Uromax every 18 hours and if I forgot to take the pill, there were times that I had to go to the hospital to have a catheter inserted.
I decided something had to be done as living like this was becoming unpleasant. I looked at the various operations and studied rezum, urolift, PAE and greenlight laser treatment. The least invasive and best results seemed to be PAE and so the decision was made.
I contacted Dr Gareth Bydawell from Lake, Smit & Partners in Durban and we set a date for 16 March 2021. After 2 weeks, l stopped taking Uromax. After 3 weeks, there were hardly any signs of my prostate causing any discomfort and my life started to return to what it was like 6 years before the procedure. Of all the good decisions l have made in my life, this has to be one of the best.
Now a month has gone past and I would like to highly recommend PAE as an extremely good choice for anyone suffering from BPH as long as you qualify for the procedure. “– PAE patient, Anonymous
