We understand your anxiety when visiting our Radiology departments is now not only about your medical condition that requires investigation, but the fear of possible Corona Virus Exposure whilst in hospital or our Radiology department.

  • We have put in place all the measures recommended by the National Institute of Communicable Diseases of South Africa, as well as some of our own to enhance your safety whilst in our care.

  • We have ensured the use of masks and implemented inhouse training of all staff of all safe habits during the Corona Virus Pandemic.

  • We have hand sanitiser dispensing pumps at all our entrances.

  • We have implemented social distancing in all our patient waiting areas.

  • We have adjusted our patient bookings to reduce possible patient contact.

  • We have adjusted our patient bookings to reduce possible patient contact.

We have also added the following measures which are not mandated by government, but which we believe will add to your safety and that of our staff, reducing your risk of accidental cross contamination.

Our reception desks have clear plastic barriers that allow complete interaction with the staff, without risk of direct droplet spread of disease.

We have introduced patient isolation cases that can be placed over the patient’s head and sealed with a sterile disposable drape to allow complete isolation in your own air space during your examination/procedure. The safety case is currently unique to Lake, Smit and Partners, having been developed by us in collaboration with a South African Engineering firm. We are proud of this device which is an example of South African “can do” philosophy when faced with this global pandemic.

The case is made from transparent High-Grade plastic allowing you complete visibility of everything around you whilst isolated in your own space and is sterilised before and after every use. It acts like your own giant visor so that you can see everything whilst lying down but at the same time isolating you during the examination and reducing risk of cross contamination thus ensuring your safety and that of our staff.
